WPA Autumn Show 2015

Autumn Show Saturday 14th November 2015

The Whitford Produce Association’s Autumn Show held in Whitford Village Hall on Saturday 14th November was very successful.   Not only did we attract more visitors in the afternoon than last year, entries for the show increased considerably and we were pleased that the judges agreed that the quality of the exhibits across all section where some of the best they had seen this year.

Derek Hurford, the vegetable and flower judge was especially impressed with the wonderful display of chrysanthemums, and was particularly pleased that we were attracting chrysanthemum growers from the surrounding area, in particular Axmouth and Beer.   We had many new exhibitors especially in the vegetable classes which ranged from large onions grown from seeds, to impressive displays of collection of various vegetables and flowers.

The cookery section was very well represented with a tempting display of mouth-watering cakes, biscuits, Italian bread to name but a few.  We were also extremely pleased that the children’s section was very well supported and our thanks go to the parents who encourage their children to enter.

It was very rewarding to see that for several of the cup winners, it was their first time of showing and in the cookery section the ladies were knocked into second.

A very enjoyable afternoon was rounded off by the Presentation of the Prize Giving Awards and the auction where prizes winning exhibits were sold at bargain prices.

Finally, we would like to thank everyone who supported the show whether it was by helping to organise the event, putting in their exhibits or coming along and supporting us in the afternoon, we are very grateful to you all, in making the show a success.
